Whitewater Wednesday returns to Rivers Resort this year on June 23 benefiting the Autism Society of West Virginia. The events, dubbed Adventures for Autism Awareness (AAA), will include whitewater rafting, rock climbing, and mountain biking with lunches and dinners included.
Rivers is pleased to host Whitewater Wednesday again this year, states Eddy Lilly owner of Rivers Resort, and it is our honor to support an organization that promotes autism awareness, a disorder that now impacts 15 million Americans and it is now estimated that one of every 250 babies will develop some form of autism.
As a result of Eddy Lillys concern for autism awareness, which he calls a critical impact on the future of our state and nation, the Autism Society of America has agreed to designate the week of June 20, 2004, Autism Awareness Week in Southern West Virginia.

We are pleased to be part of the Adventures for Autism Awareness and Whitewater Wednesday events, explains Cynthia Potter of Twin Rivers Gallery, autism is now more common than childhood cancer, cystic fibrosis and multiple sclerosis combined and is a lifelong disability. It is imperative that our community, schools, and public gain more awareness about the disorder quickly, as it appears to be increasing rapidly in our country.
